Inheritance is about dressing with awareness knowing where you come from, and where you are going.
This collection is inspired by the Ojude Oba Festival of Ijebuland a regal spectacle where tradition and
fashion meet.
During the festival, the people return home not only to honour the Awujale (king), but also to celebrate their
own heritage: their regberegbe age groups, their family names, their legacy of style.
I reimagine what the modern descendants of these parades might wear today. The daughters of Gbobalaye,
the nieces of Balogun riders women who inherit not only garments, but standards. Each look blends strength
and softness: cropped blazers paired with mini skirts, halter dresses edged with memory, full skirts that echo
the rhythm of the procession.
The palette centres on navy, gold, and cornflower blue Aso-Oke(hand woven fabric) chosen not only for their
beauty, but for what they represent: nobility, serenity, and the glowing continuity of lineage.
“Inheritance” is a wardrobe rooted in Yoruba legacy, yet styled for now: crisp, confident, and built for leaders
of the present and future.
