Tare by Isaac
Tare by Isaac s a three-chapter collection rooted in memory, womanhood, and cultural legacy. Told through the eyes of a young
girl witnessing the women around her, each chapter explores a facet of identity passed down through the maternal line —
rooted in the Ijaw tribe, one of Nigeria’s oldest ethnic groups, whose visual language and legacy have long been overlooked in
contemporary fashion storytelling.
We begin with The Heritage, launching first as AW25 a ceremonial ode to Ijaw traditional weddings, reimagined from my own
family’s wedding photos. Sculptural silhouettes, beaded caps, and staff symbols celebrate bridehood, sisterhood, and ancestral
pride.
The Woman (The Women in My Mother’s House) reflects a different kind of intimacy: a nostalgic capsule inspired by the quiet
rituals of beauty and bonding shared by my mother and her sisters. It’s a memory of the 90s soft, feminine, and filled with
warmth.
The Water (The Water Bearers) returns to the river the lifeline of Ijaw culture. It captures both abundance and erosion, with
flowing silhouettes, market-life vibrancy, and a haunting siren rising from polluted waters a symbol of both spirit and survival.
Together, the three chapters form one story: In My Blood — a personal and cultural archive expressed in cloth, ceremony, and
memory.
